Project Manager Optical Transceiver development

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager for the coordination of EFFECT’s R&D projects (party funded) as well as product development and/or engineering projects in the telecommunications industry. The Project Manager will own multiple projects with a scope from a few months up to a few years, and roughly from 0,5-1,5 mil. euros currently.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in project management (5-10 years) and broad experience in research environments, engineering management, and NPI development cycles. An MSc degree is required for this position.
The Project Manager will:
- own and manage all project coordination, and interaction e.g. scoping, setting up and facilitating meetings and reviews;
- be responsible for the project planning and resource management
- manage requirements, risks, deliverables, and expectations
- be responsible for steering, motivating and supporting the project team
- guard the project budget and make decisions accordingly;
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
We are looking for a self-starting project manager with an excellent talent for planning, tracking, and project coordination. You have demonstrated the ability to maintain a helicopter view of multiple multi-year projects to ensure decisions are made timely and adequately.
In addition, you need to be able to initiate and chase short-term planning spans over several days or weeks, over multiple sites and over multiple fields of advanced technology. In semiconductor technologies, activities such as a chip tape-out, impact the long-term course of the project significantly. The Project Manager needs to have an affinity with this detailed planning and how it impacts the long-term goals to ensure the long-term plan remains on target.
To be able to communicate and manage effectively, you need to possess general knowledge of electronic engineering, semiconductor engineering, and telecommunications. Experience in communication with research and knowledge institutes as well as with funding agencies is needed as well. Experience with IP management is pre.
This job requires you to communicate with many stakeholders inside and outside the organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are therefore of great importance.
Finally, you must be willing and open to travel – both domestic and international – up to 10% of the time.
